Hanyang University Rises to 155th in 2027 QS World Rankings

Hanyang University has achieved a global ranking of 155th in the 2027 QS World University Rankings, continuing its upward trajectory for the third consecutive year. This latest result places the university within the top 1.8% of evaluated institutions worldwide, amidst increasingly fierce global competition.

The significant climb in the rankings was primarily driven by substantial improvements in two key metrics: international research network (IRN) and academic reputation (AR). The IRN indicator saw a remarkable jump of 76 places, while academic reputation rose by seven places. These gains reflect Hanyang's sustained efforts in promoting interdisciplinary and international collaborative research, which are now being recognized for their quantitative and qualitative impact within the global academic community.

Hanyang University has strategically developed its research infrastructure across various future-oriented fields, including energy, environment, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, life sciences, and quantum technology. The university operates specialized research institutes on both its Seoul and ERICA campuses, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration and international partnerships. This robust research ecosystem has been further bolstered by active participation in the Ministry of Education's 'Brain Korea 21' (BK21) program, which supports the cultivation of future researchers and enhances educational and research infrastructure, particularly in STEM fields.

University President Lee Ki-jeong attributed the success to the dedication of the entire university community in expanding research infrastructure, fostering an international research collaboration ecosystem, and nurturing talent through the BK21 initiative. He expressed the university's commitment to further strengthening its position as a world-class research-oriented institution.
