Harry Kane named Europe's top scorer, wins Golden Shoe

Harry Kane, the prolific striker for Bayern Munich, has been crowned the top scorer in European football leagues for the past season, earning him the prestigious Golden Shoe award. The German sports magazine "Kicker" announced on Tuesday that Kane clinched the title with an impressive 72 points, primarily from his 36 goals in the German Bundesliga.

Kane's remarkable goal tally placed him ahead of strong contenders. Manchester City's Norwegian star Erling Haaland finished second with 54 points, having scored 27 goals in the English Premier League. Real Madrid's French sensation Kylian Mbappé secured third place with 50 points for his 27 goals in Spain's La Liga.

This victory marks a significant achievement for the England captain, as it is his second time receiving the Golden Shoe. He previously won the award in 2024. Kane has consistently been the top scorer in the German Bundesliga throughout his three seasons with Bayern Munich.

The Golden Shoe award system grants two points for each goal scored in Europe's top five leagues: England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France, reflecting the high level of competition. Leagues ranked 6th to 22nd receive 1.5 points per goal, while lower-ranked leagues award one point per goal. Dinamo Zagreb's Dion Beljo was the highest-ranked player outside the top five leagues, securing fourth place with 46.5 points from 31 goals.
