Harry Potter magic returns to Malaysia 25 years later

For a month, Pavilion Damansara Heights is turning its shopping center into a passage through the Harry Potter universe. The Harry Potter: 25 Years of Magic celebration runs from Aug. 20 to Sept. 20, marking 25 years since Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone first brought the wizarding world to the big screen.

The experience begins at Platform 9¾, where visitors can pose with a trolley appearing to pass through a brick wall and take photographs beside a themed telephone booth. The route then leads to the Hogwarts Express, featuring a detailed locomotive design, timed steam effects and train compartments created to evoke the journey to Hogwarts.

Visitors can continue into Hogsmeade, with Harry Potter merchandise and diorama displays, before finishing at a workshop area. There, themed craft activities allow them to make their own souvenirs. Pavilion Malls Chief Executive Officer Datuk Joyce Yap said the character and story still inspire several generations and connect fans around the world. “We are delighted to celebrate this special moment by bringing the magic of the wizarding world closer to visitors through an experience that brings together families, friends and fans,” she said.

The interactive Campaign Journey Redemption adds three challenges. Visitors must scan a QR code and share their experience at Platform 9¾ and the Hogwarts Express, find five hidden wizarding artifacts, and enter a Hogwarts Express cabin to share a favorite Harry Potter memory. After completing all three missions, they can verify their participation at the redemption booth and claim a limited-edition sticker pack. Miniso is also offering official Harry Potter merchandise, while craft workshops will take place on weekends.
