Greek footballer Tassos Hatzigiovannis has shared a heartfelt farewell to young Dimitris, a child he actively supported through a difficult battle with cancer. The player expressed his profound sadness on social media following the child's passing.

Dimitris was fighting neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that predominantly affects infants and young children. A year prior, a fundraising effort was launched to cover the costs of his treatment. Hatzigiovannis, then playing for Panathinaikos and now with Omonia, stepped in to provide significant financial assistance, donating the required €12,500.

Despite the considerable efforts made by Hatzigiovannis and others, the outcome was not as hoped. The former Panathinaikos star, who now plays for Omonia, posted a touching message on Instagram, conveying his grief over the loss of his young friend.
