Hauge magic saves Bodø/Glimt in Champions League warm-up

Jens Petter Hauge needed only four minutes after coming off the bench to produce the moment that settled Bodø/Glimt’s 2-1 win at Fredrikstad. The victory came in the club’s final test before the Champions League begins.

Hauge, who had been dealing with a minor injury, entered in the 69th minute. His goal, described by TV 2 analyst Simen Stamsø Møller as “art,” put Glimt back in front after Fredrikstad had equalized.

Bodø/Glimt opened the scoring before the half-hour mark. Patrick Berg sent a pass from the halfway line into the path of Ole Didrik Blomberg, who timed his run and chipped the ball over goalkeeper Martin Børsheim for his fifth goal of the season.

Fredrikstad created danger after the break and equalized through Bryan Fiabema, who fired in from 16 meters. The 23-year-old had not played since the end of April, making the goal a notable debut for the new signing. Fredrikstad later thought it had scored again, but Henrik Skogvold was ruled offside.

Glimt’s win extended its league winning streak to eight matches and maintained its distance from Viking in second place. On Thursday, Kjetil Knutsen’s team will face Bayern Munich in Germany. Hauge called it one of the toughest away matches the club could play in the Champions League, but said the team was looking forward to the challenge.
