Hazelnut harvest begins in middle altitudes, 115,000 tons expected in Samsun

Hazelnut harvesting has commenced in the middle altitudes of Samsun, Turkey, a region anticipating a substantial yield of 115,000 tons. The agricultural sector is buzzing with activity as producers have started their harvest in areas like Canik Kaleboğazı Mahallesi.

Farmers noted a marked improvement in this year's crop, with yields reportedly three times higher than the previous season. Last year, frost significantly impacted the hazelnut production in these middle altitudes, resulting in a meager harvest. This year's abundance has brought relief and optimism to the farming community.

During a hazelnut harvest festival organized in Canik, Mayor İbrahim Sandıkçı joined the producers. He expressed his delight at the high yield, stating, "This year, the hazelnut yield appears to be quite high. Hopefully, our producers will benefit positively from this abundance. I wish for a year where our producers receive the reward for their labor."

The festival, a first for the district, celebrated the start of the harvest and highlighted the community's reliance on and appreciation for the hazelnut crop. Officials and farmers alike are hopeful for a successful and profitable season, underscoring the importance of agriculture to the local economy.
