U.S. Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar has publicly endorsed right-wing candidate Abelardo de la Espriella, urging Colombians to vote for him in the upcoming elections. Salazar expressed strong disapproval of the current administration led by President Gustavo Petro, asserting that his term has seen a significant rise in crime, kidnappings, and political violence.

Colombians, it has been four long years. During the mandate of (Gustavo Petro), crimes and kidnappings skyrocketed, political violence increased, coca crops grew, and due to Petro's whim to defend criminals and narcoterrorists, he almost subjected the Colombian people to an economic war against the United States.

In a statement on social media, Salazar detailed her criticisms, alleging that under Petro's leadership, coca cultivation has increased. She further warned that Petro's "whim" to defend criminals and narcoterrorists had nearly led to an economic war between Colombia and the United States. Salazar framed the election as an opportunity for Colombians to reject Petro's "era" and choose a different path.

Salazar specifically warned against Iván Cepeda, whom she described as "Petro #2" and even more extremist. She urged voters to choose "freedom, a stronger economy, and above all, security and an alliance with the United States." Her endorsement of De la Espriella emphasized her "complete confidence and support" for his potential leadership.
