Football icon Ronaldinho Gaúcho graced the streets of Petare, Caracas, on Saturday, participating in an exhibition match that drew hundreds of local children and teenagers. The event was part of the Liga Monumental, a tournament that brings together football legends and aims to connect the sport with communities.

This marked Ronaldinho's second appearance in the Liga Monumental, which held its inaugural edition in 2024 featuring retired stars like Clarence Seedorf and Carlos Valderrama. This year, the organizers brought the tournament to Mesuca, a sector in eastern Caracas, where they also created a mural depicting the former Barcelona forward's face.

Ronaldinho played for the CLX team against Patacones, captained by former Venezuelan national team goalkeeper Renny Vega. The match saw Ronaldinho score a goal in the second half, highlighting the event's objective of making football accessible to the community. A preceding match between local children also took place, serving as a prelude to the main exhibition.

The Liga Monumental employs unique rules designed for entertainment and community engagement. Games are played with nine players per team, and there is no offside rule. A "power minute" in each half allows goals to count double. The tournament structure involves winning two out of three periods, with tiebreakers decided by goal average or penalty shootouts between captains. Additionally, teams accumulating five fouls grant the opponent an extra player for the remainder of the competition. The tournament is scheduled to conclude on June 30.
