Health assistance desk opens at Manakamana Temple for devotees

Devotees visiting Nepal's Manakamana Temple now have access to primary healthcare services directly within the temple premises. A new Health Assistance Desk, a collaborative effort between the Manakamana Area Development Committee and the Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality, officially opened its doors on Wednesday.

The facility is equipped to provide essential medical care, including ECG services, and was inaugurated by Rural Municipality Chairperson Ramesh Thapa. Anjan Basnyat, Executive Director of the Manakamana Area Development Committee, explained the desk's crucial role in mitigating health risks for devotees who often wait in long queues and under fasting conditions.

"Millions of devotees visit Manakamana every year," Basnyat stated. "Some have suffered serious health complications, and there have even been deaths while waiting in fasting conditions. This facility has been established to address such emergencies." He further noted that the desk will extend its services to elderly and vulnerable local residents.

The Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality will supply the necessary healthcare personnel, while the Manakamana Area Development Committee will oversee the facility's overall management. Additional support comes from Manakamana Darshan Pvt. Ltd., which donated the medical equipment, and Temple chief priest Insan Thapa Magar, who pledged monthly financial contributions.
