Health Minister announces Heart Institute inauguration in Târgu Mureș: 'Investments continue'

Romania's interim Health Minister, Cseke Attila, has announced the upcoming inauguration of the new Heart Institute building in Târgu Mureș, scheduled for Monday. This significant investment in cardiovascular healthcare is expected to serve not only the Mureș region but also Transylvania and the wider country.

Speaking in Cluj-Napoca, Attila stated that health projects initially funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) will see continued support via the upcoming Health Operational Program. He stressed that these initiatives demonstrate Romania's capacity to undertake and complete major projects using both national and European funds.

"It is possible in Romania, it is possible to have a project drawn up, it is possible to find funding for that project, it is possible for that project to be built, and it is possible for things to be finalized," Attila remarked, as cited by Agerpres. He added that public and European funds can be effectively utilized for the benefit of patients and local communities.

The minister made these remarks during the inauguration of the Regional Center for Cerebrovascular Pathology and Neurosurgery in Cluj-Napoca. This project, which began in 2019 and saw construction start in August 2022 after securing PNRR funding, represents an investment exceeding 230 million lei. The new Cluj facility boasts 105 beds, including specialized neurosurgery and intensive care units, seven operating rooms, and will be staffed by over 500 medical professionals.
