Health Minister performs surgery on elderly patient during hospital rounds

Kyrgyzstan's Health Minister, Damir Osmonov, demonstrated decisive action by personally performing a critical medical procedure on an 87-year-old patient suffering from a heart attack. The incident occurred during an unscheduled inspection of the cardiology department's renovation work at the National Center of Cardiology and Therapy in Bishkek.

According to the Ministry of Health, the elderly patient arrived in extremely critical condition, necessitating immediate, high-tech medical assistance. Minister Osmonov swiftly intervened, not only overseeing the organization of the patient's treatment but also personally conducting the stenting of the infarct-dependent coronary artery.

The procedure was performed free of charge as part of the "Acute Myocardial Infarction 24/7" program. This program aims to provide timely and accessible care for patients experiencing severe heart attacks.

The Ministry of Health highlighted the minister's direct involvement as crucial in saving the patient's life, emphasizing the rapid response and specialized care provided. The event underscores the critical role of swift medical intervention in cases of acute myocardial infarction and the dedication of medical professionals, including the nation's health minister.
