Health Ministry Finds Hospital Negligent in Doctor Icha Intimidation Case

Indonesia's Ministry of Health has concluded that RS Leona Kefamenanu was negligent in protecting its staff, specifically in relation to an alleged intimidation incident involving Dr. Eliza Princila Utami. The ministry's investigation found a failure in the hospital's duty of care towards its healthcare professionals.

Azhar Jaya, Director-General of Advanced Health at the Ministry of Health, stated that regional governments must guide hospital management on this issue. He noted that the hospital "lessened the protection" for healthcare workers in critical zones, such as the emergency room (IGD), where the incident occurred.

Jaya explained that hospital management should proactively map and mitigate risks in high-stress areas like the emergency room. He acknowledged that conflicts can arise in the IGD due to patient panic and the urgent need for services, which can lead to emotional confrontations between patients and doctors. The ministry emphasized the importance of having security personnel present in such areas to prevent escalating conflicts. However, the investigation indicated that RS Leona Kefamenanu did not adequately implement such measures, contributing to the alleged intimidation of Dr. Icha.
