Heavy rain likely in several parts of Nepal, authorities urge caution

Nepal is currently under the influence of its monsoon season, with the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology forecasting widespread cloudy conditions and rainfall across the country. The monsoon low-pressure line is positioned slightly north of its usual location, increasing its proximity to Nepal.

Light to moderate rain is already being observed in various parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. The forecast indicates that mountainous and hilly areas, particularly in Koshi and Bagmati provinces, may experience moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning, with a possibility of snowfall. Some Tarai regions are also expected to receive moderate rainfall.

Authorities have issued warnings, urging residents in vulnerable areas to exercise caution. There is a potential for heavy rainfall in specific hilly regions of Karnali Province and in certain hilly and Tarai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces. In some isolated instances, very heavy rainfall is possible, heightening the risk of associated hazards.
