Heavy Rain Warning Issued for Four Taiwan Counties as Unstable Weather Continues

Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration issued heavy rain warnings for four counties and cities as a low-pressure system and strengthening southwest winds brought more unstable weather.

The warning covers Hualien County, Taitung County, Kaohsiung City and Pingtung County. Central, southern and southeastern Taiwan could see showers or thunderstorms, with the south facing localized heavy rain or torrential downpours. Central and southeastern areas could also experience short-duration intense rain.

Other parts of Taiwan may receive brief showers or thunderstorms, including periods of heavier rainfall. Similar conditions are forecast on Tuesday, while southern, eastern and southeastern areas could see localized heavy rain on Wednesday. Intermittent showers and thunderstorms are expected around the island from Thursday through Sunday.

Temperatures in Taiwan and the outlying islands are forecast to reach about 32 to 35 degrees Celsius from Tuesday through Saturday, with lows of 25 to 27 degrees. Air quality is expected to remain good in most areas, while northern Taiwan is forecast to have moderate air quality.
