Heavy rains and thunderstorms expected across Lithuania

Lithuania is bracing for significant weather changes on Thursday as a southern cyclone approaches, bringing substantial moisture. Heavy rain is anticipated across most regions, both overnight and during the day, with the eastern part of the country expected to see the most intense downpours. Thunderstorms are also forecast in some areas.

During these thunderstorms, wind gusts could reach speeds of 15-20 meters per second. Overnight temperatures are expected to range between 9-14 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures will climb to 14-19 degrees. In the eastern regions, temperatures could reach as high as 20-25 degrees Celsius.

Friday will continue the trend of unsettled weather, with scattered showers and the possibility of summer thunderstorms in some areas. Winds will gradually shift to westerly and range from 5-10 m/s. Temperatures will be slightly cooler than Thursday, with lows between 8-13 degrees Celsius and highs of 15-20 degrees.

The weekend is expected to bring brief showers but no thunderstorms, and winds will weaken. Temperatures are forecast to remain similar. The report also noted that on Monday, many regions experienced short showers with thunderstorms and hail, with the highest temperature reaching 17-24 degrees Celsius. Dūkštas recorded the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours with 43.5 mm, which is 63% of the monthly norm.
