Hekim Birliği Union denies administrator appointment, cites ongoing legal process

The Hekim Birliği Union has refuted claims that an administrator has been appointed to the organization, asserting that the legal process regarding the nullification of its general assembly is ongoing. General Chair Hatice Çerçi Balcı stressed that the initial court ruling has not been finalized, and therefore, no administrator has been appointed.

Balcı stated that the Hekim Birliği Union has consistently worked to support physicians, improve their working conditions, protect their rights, and uphold the honor of the medical profession. She noted that this struggle has taken place in various arenas, including hospitals, administrative bodies, courtrooms, and public forums, always adhering to the rule of law, valuing physicians' labor, and protecting professional dignity.

The initial first-instance court decision has not been finalized and is not an enforceable decision.

"We are fighting to defend professional honor," Balcı said, addressing recent public claims. She explained that a lawsuit was filed against the union's 2nd Ordinary General Assembly held on October 30-31, 2025. The initial court decision ordered the annulment of the general assembly and, upon finalization, the appointment of three administrators to oversee a new assembly. However, Balcı emphasized that this decision is not yet final or enforceable.

Therefore, as of today, there is no appointed administrator to the Hekim Birliği Union. Our Central Executive Board is at its post.

The union's Central Executive Board remains in office, and the union will continue its work for physicians' rights with determination. The union plans to appeal the lower court's decision, first to an appellate court and then, if necessary, to the Supreme Court. The annulment of the general assembly will not have a final legal effect until the appeals process is fully completed. The Hekim Birliği Union, which has historically defended the law and the rule of law, has achieved many gains through legal means. While respecting judicial decisions, the union will continue to oppose any unlawful or irregular actions that disregard the will of the union membership.
