Helena Vitman receives 'Underground Spirit' award at Palić Film Festival

Filmmaker and artist Helena Vitman was honored with the "Underground Spirit" award at the Palić European Film Festival. This prestigious award celebrates exceptional contributions to independent cinema and acknowledges artists who have forged unique creative paths away from the industry's main currents.

Festival organizers stated that the "Underground Spirit" award is presented for outstanding work in independent film and a singular artistic poetics developed outside the major flows of the film industry. Executive producer Ilija Tatić presented the award to Vitman.

Accepting the award, Vitman shared her deep connection with the "Underground Spirit" award, emphasizing its significance. "I believe we must remain steadfast, but in a constructive way. I hope I will manage to remain consistent with that," she stated. She expressed gratitude for the hospitality and for receiving an award she considers particularly important in the current climate.

Vitman's filmography includes her debut feature "Zanošenje" and her latest work, "Cvetovi ljudskog tela" (Flowers of the Human Body). Her films have garnered recognition and awards at numerous international festivals and exhibitions, including prominent events in Locarno, Venice, Toronto, Rotterdam, and Mar del Plata, as well as at institutions like Tate Modern and MoMA.
