Helicopter deployed: Two seriously injured in accident on the A52

A serious traffic accident on the A52 highway near Schwalmtal has left two individuals with severe injuries. Emergency services responded swiftly, working to extract the victims from the mangled vehicle. Both individuals were subsequently transported by helicopter to specialized medical facilities for urgent treatment.

The collision occurred on Sunday evening just past the Hostert exit, heading towards Roermond. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by authorities. The incident led to a significant disruption, with the A52 closed in the direction of Roermond for approximately two hours while rescue and cleanup operations were underway.

In addition to the human toll, the accident also impacted the animals involved. Two dogs traveling in one of the vehicles were taken into the care of the local animal welfare authorities. The closure of the highway caused considerable delays for other motorists during the evening commute.
