Helinho's Goal Sends Toluca to Leagues Cup Semifinals

Toluca has advanced to the Leagues Cup semifinals after a 2-0 victory over Austin FC at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey. The win keeps alive their aspirations of winning the tournament, a title that has so far eluded the club under coach Antonio Mohamed.

The match, played thousands of kilometers from Toluca's home stadium, saw the Mexican side control the tempo throughout. Despite playing with a man advantage from the 40th minute after Austin's Joseph Rosales was sent off, Toluca struggled to break the deadlock in the first half.

However, early in the second half, Austin committed a critical error. A foul inside the box by Oleksandr Svatok on Jesús Ricardo Angulo led to a penalty, which Helinho converted in the 52nd minute to put Toluca ahead. Roberto Díaz Price sealed the victory in the 96th minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse by Austin.

With this win, Toluca extends its unbeaten streak to four matches and reaches the Leagues Cup semifinals for the first time. The team, which has already won several other titles under Mohamed, now has its sights set on claiming the Leagues Cup.
