Here Are the Names of Eight Indonesians Who Became Russian Soldiers

Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service has published the names and personal details of eight Indonesian citizens it says were recruited by the Kremlin to fight in Russia's war against Ukraine.

The individuals reportedly entered Russia mainly on Russian visas between 2025 and 2026. One person allegedly traveled through Belarus. The identities released by the Ukrainian service include Yuda Putra Pratama, Haryanto Dwi Kencana, Erwanda, Ngangun Hudri Fadli, Muhammad Syaripudin, M Hadi Maulana, Wahyu Oktavian Iskandar and Helmi Nuraha Hakim.

The published records include each person's date of birth. Republika noted that the eight names are separate from two Indonesians who had previously joined the Russian military: former Indonesian Navy Marine Corps member Serda Satriya Arta Kumbara and Aceh police Mobile Brigade officer Bripda Muhammad Rio.

The Ukrainian intelligence service framed the recruitment as part of a broader effort involving Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim-majority country, with a population of more than 280 million. It described Indonesia as having joined countries that the Kremlin has turned into a source of low-cost manpower for the war.
