Here's What Kuwait's Public Authority for Manpower Says About Employers' and Workers' Labour Rights

Kuwait's Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has issued a new advisory to reinforce workplace safety, reminding both employers and employees of their legal rights and obligations under the nation's Labour Law. The campaign, titled "Know Your Rights," highlights that ensuring a safe working environment is a collective duty.

The advisory details that employers have the right to expect workers to adhere to safety protocols, utilize protective gear correctly, and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their colleagues. This aligns with Article 87 of the Labour Law, which mandates workers' compliance with safety procedures and responsible use of protective equipment.

Conversely, PAM stressed that employees are entitled to a safe and healthy work environment. Articles 83 and 86 of the Labour Law stipulate that employers must supply all essential safety and protective equipment to their staff at no cost. Furthermore, Article 88 requires employers to insure their workers against occupational injuries and work-related illnesses as mandated by law.

Concluding the directive, PAM underscored that the effectiveness of workplace safety hinges on the commitment of all parties involved. "Safety is a shared responsibility, it begins with commitment and ends with protection," the authority stated, urging all workplaces to rigorously uphold occupational health and safety standards to safeguard lives and foster a secure working atmosphere.
