High Court judge among six injured in Makwanpur SUV crash

Six people, including the Chief Judge of the High Court Birgunj, sustained injuries when their SUV plunged off a road in Makwanpur, Nepal. The accident happened Tuesday morning as the vehicle traveled from Kathmandu to Birgunj.

The injured have been identified as Chief Judge Gokarna Dangi, 57, his wife Laxmi Badu, 49, their son Ritendra Badu, 25, and his sister Rita Badu, 31. Also injured were Registrar Taradatta Badu, 57, and the jeep driver, Chhunilal Chaudhary, 32, from Dang.

The Scorpio SUV, with license plate Province 3-01-002 Jha 5183, fell approximately 50 to 60 meters into a ravine at Jurikhel in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-6. All occupants were rescued and transported to Bhimphedi Hospital for initial treatment.

Authorities reported that preparations are underway to transfer seriously injured individuals, including Laxmi Badu, to hospitals with more advanced medical facilities. Police officials, led by SP Shyambahadur Khatri of the District Police Office, Makwanpur, visited the accident site. An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
