High jumper Ritari reaches U20 Worlds final, decathletes in top ten after first day

Estonian high jumper Marleen Ritari has advanced to the final of the U20 World Championships, clearing a height of 1.79 meters in the qualifying round. The final is scheduled for August 9th at 22:30 EEST, according to ekjl.ee.

In the girls' 100m hurdles, Pia Lauren Matsalu secured 35th place with a time of 13.83 seconds. Ellen Ingrid Aadamsoo followed in 38th place, setting a new personal best of 13.88 seconds.

Dmitri Petrogradov competed in the 200m preliminary heats, finishing 48th with a time of 21.51 seconds.

The decathlon event, which began on Friday, sees Andre Jürisson in 9th place and Tristan Konso in 10th place after the first day of competition. Jürisson recorded 10.79 in the 100m, 6.90m in the long jump, 13.33m in the shot put, 1.97m in the high jump, and finished the day with a personal best of 49.46 in the 400m. Konso improved his season's best in the 100m to 10.84, jumped 6.94m in the long jump, achieved 13.88m in the shot put, cleared 1.85m in the high jump, and set a personal record of 48.55 in the 400m.
