Highway Accident Causes 3km Traffic Jam in Hsinchu; 3 Injured, Including Pregnant Woman

A traffic accident on National Freeway No. 3 northbound in Hsinchu, Taiwan, caused significant disruptions during the evening commute. The collision, which occurred around 5:30 PM at kilometer 102.4, involved multiple vehicles and led to a traffic backlog of approximately 3 kilometers.

Emergency services responded promptly, with the Hsinchu City Fire Bureau arriving at the scene shortly after the report. Initially, there were reports of two individuals trapped in their vehicles. However, upon arrival, responders found that all individuals had extricated themselves and sustained only minor injuries.

Among the injured were a 31-year-old pregnant woman who reported abdominal, neck, and chest pain, and a 69-year-old woman experiencing dizziness. A 45-year-old man, who accompanied the pregnant woman, reported no discomfort. The pregnant woman was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.

The accident involved a large truck, a red car, and two severely damaged black cars that were obstructing the roadway. Authorities quickly set up traffic control measures, allowing only the inner lane to remain open. The incident caused considerable delays for commuters traveling northbound during the peak evening hours. The cause of the accident is currently under police investigation.
