Highway Bridge Near Bratislava Completed, Restrictions on D1 Towards Trnava Ended

Slovaks can now breathe a sigh of relief as the long-awaited completion of the highway bridge near Bratislava marks the end of significant traffic disruptions on the D1 highway heading towards Trnava. As reported by SME, the National Highway Company (NDS) confirmed that all traffic restrictions have been lifted as of Sunday morning. This marks a crucial milestone in the ongoing modernization of the eastern entrance to the capital, promising smoother commutes for thousands of drivers.

The completion of the bridge over the railway line means that motorists can once again seamlessly connect to the D1 from the I/61 road near Vajnory Lake. Furthermore, the vital link from the D1 to the D4 highway in the direction of Jarovce is now fully operational. This reintegration of key access points is expected to significantly ease congestion and improve traffic flow, particularly during peak hours, a persistent challenge for those entering and exiting Bratislava.

Work on the highway bridge over the railway on the D1 near Bratislava has been completed as planned. Thanks to this, motorists heading towards Trnava can now connect to the highway from the I/61 road near Vajnory Lake. Similarly, the branch from the D1 to the D4 in the direction of Jarovce is also available to drivers.

For the past week, drivers have been utilizing the reconstructed and widened stretch of the D1, which in some sections now boasts eight lanes. This extensive upgrade not only enhances the safety and fluidity of traffic but also directly addresses the notorious bottlenecks that plagued the Bernolákovo intersection. The NDS has indicated that while this phase is complete, modernization efforts on the eastern approach to Bratislava continue, demonstrating a commitment to improving the nation's infrastructure.

For a week now, motorists have been using the reconstructed and widened section of the D1 near Bratislava. Thanks to the highway, which is eight lanes wide in places, safety and traffic flow have increased when entering or exiting the capital. Above all, the risk of traffic jams at the Bernolákovo intersection has decreased.
