Hijra community leader found dead at Ctg home

Md Moshin, known as Moushumi Hijra, a leader of part of Chattogram’s hijra community, was found dead at his home in the Khulshi-Ambagan area.

Moshin, 52, had long served as a “Guru Ma” for a section of the local community. Some hijra people knocked on his door in the morning but received no response, according to Abdur Rahim, officer-in-charge of Khulshi Police Station.

“They entered the house and found Moushumi’s body lying on the bed,” Rahim said. Police suspect Moushumi may have been strangled.

The body was sent to the Chattogram Medical College morgue for an autopsy. Rahim said police have started an investigation.
