Historic moment: Poles to teach Britons explosives production

In a significant development for the defense industry, Polish explosives manufacturer Nitro-Chem and British defense giant BAE Systems have signed a letter of intent to invest in and develop the production of energetic materials in the United Kingdom. The agreement, signed at the MESKO facilities in Kraśnik, Poland, signifies a strategic collaboration aimed at bolstering the UK's domestic capabilities.

Nitro-Chem, based in Bydgoszcz, is recognized as one of the world's largest producers of explosives and the leading TNT manufacturer within NATO. The company supplies its products to numerous countries, including the United States, Canada, Germany, and the UK. With an annual production of approximately 10,000 tons of TNT, Nitro-Chem's expertise will be crucial in establishing a new factory in Britain, which is projected to add an additional 2,000 tons of production annually.

Karol Przybyszewski, CEO of Nitro-Chem, stated that supporting BAE Systems' modernization processes in the UK confirms Nitro-Chem's high technological competencies and opens access to new, prestigious markets. If the plans materialize, this collaboration could represent the first foreign investment in the history of Poland's defense group, Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ). The initiative is part of a broader effort by NATO members to strengthen their ammunition production capabilities, with other major players like NAMMO, CSG, and Rheinmetall also expanding their operations.
