Historic Polish Vodka Distillery Starka Up for Sale Amid Dino Owner Interest

The historic Szczecin Vodka Distillery Starka has been put up for sale, with the deadline for offers passing on June 1. The minimum price set for the bankrupt enterprise is over 106 million Polish złoty (approximately $26.5 million USD), though the potential value of its assets could be significantly higher.

Media outlets have reported that Tomasz Biernacki, the founder and owner of the popular Dino supermarket chain in Poland, is among the potential buyers. While these reports have not been officially confirmed, they have generated significant interest in the sale, which has attracted attention both domestically and internationally, including from The Spirits Business portal.

The sale includes the entire enterprise, encompassing over 2 hectares of real estate in Szczecin, a production and warehouse complex, inventory, and intangible assets such as trademarks, industrial designs, and historical recipes. The opening of bids is scheduled for June 12, 2026, at the Szczecin court. If multiple offers are received, a bidding auction may follow.

Szczecin Vodka Distillery Starka is described as a rare asset that uniquely combines three pillars: a classic alcohol business, a premium historical brand, and valuable real estate. Experts suggest it offers opportunities for investors to either revive the historic alcohol brand or undertake a revitalization project incorporating residential, commercial, and tourism functions. The greatest value, however, may lie in a combination of both: preserving the heritage of Starka while leveraging the property's potential.
