Historic Zrenjanin Theater Facade Restored

The historic Toša Jovanović National Theater in Zrenjanin, a cultural monument boasting Serbia's oldest preserved Baroque hall, has completed its facade renovation. The extensive work is part of the "Cultural Capitals of Serbia 2025" initiative, aiming to revitalize cultural heritage sites.

Beyond the renewed facade, the project encompassed the replacement of the entire roof and its associated elements, as well as the installation of new exterior joinery. Efforts are also underway to restore parts of the interior and the main stage, ensuring the theater's continued functionality and aesthetic appeal.

Uroš Pavlov, acting director of the Zrenjanin theater, highlighted the significance of the project. He noted that despite its origins in 1839, the theater hall will be equipped with modern amenities. Pavlov emphasized the responsibility to preserve and nurture the building, calling the current renovation a "unique opportunity" not seen since the last major reconstruction in 1984.
