Niš Film Festival closes with top acting honors for Vučić Perović, Andrija Kuzmanović and Jovana Stojiljković

The Niš Film Festival closed with Vučić Perović receiving its Grand Prix for his performance as Dejan in Goran Stanković’s “Our Father,” the film that opened the festival. The jury praised the actor’s transformation from a vulnerable young man into an accomplice and finally a victim of a harsh system.

The award citation described Perović’s performance as free of stereotypes and said it conveyed the pain of addiction through his eyes during difficult, largely silent moments. Perović received the festival’s top acting honor at the closing ceremony in Niš.

Andrija Kuzmanović won the award for best male performance for playing Zoran in Vladimir Tagić’s “Yugo Florida.” Jovana Stojiljković took the award for best female performance for her role as Marija in Maja Miloš’s “A Crack in the Ice,” which premiered at the festival.

The jury, made up of Paulina Manov, Ivana Vuković and Katarina Žutić, also gave certificates for outstanding performances to Jelena Đokić for “Karmadona” and Boris Isaković for “Our Father.” Hana Selimović won for a supporting role in “Yugo Florida,” while Igor Filipović was recognized for two supporting performances, in “Excursion” and “Karmadona.”

Andrijana Đorđević won best debut performance for “Cat’s Cry,” and Jasmin Geljo received the award for best foreign actor for the same film. Ferešteh Hoseini was named best foreign actress for “Among the Gods.” Anđelka Stević Žugić received the comedy acting award established nine years ago in honor of Milorad Mandić Manda.

Before the ceremony, Film Actors Association president Petar Benčina thanked Niš audiences and everyone involved in the festival. “We are happy and excited that we were together for all six days, and this evening is the finale of a shared success,” he said.
