History is being rewritten in our region, Erdoğan says after SDG dissolution

Speaking at an event commemorating the 955th anniversary of the Battle of Manzikert, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared that history is being rewritten in the region following the dissolution of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDG).

Erdoğan, joined by Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli, used the historical occasion to underscore Turkey's unwavering commitment to its national objectives. He employed a metaphor of tying a horse's tail to signify a point of no return, stating that Turkey has done so to build its "Century of Turkey" and achieve its goals of a terror-free nation and region.

Reflecting on the historical significance of Manzikert, Erdoğan honored the ancestors who opened the doors to Anatolia. He stated that the Turkish nation, which has defended this land for 850 years, is one that fiercely protects its independence. Erdoğan also touched upon the "terror-free Turkey" initiative, acknowledging the challenging geography. "We have put our bodies on the line. We do not live in a thornless rose garden geographically. He reiterated the commitment to achieving a terror-free Turkey and region, emphasizing that Turkey is guiding history through its policies.
