History of Independent Kyrgyz Cinema Showcased in Photo Exhibition

An art exhibition celebrating the history of independent Kyrgyz cinema has opened in the Kuntu village art residence. The exhibition, titled "From 'Snail' to 'Esimde'," features photographs by Erkin Bolzhurov, a distinguished cultural figure in Kyrgyzstan.

The event was inaugurated at the art residence founded by acclaimed Kyrgyz filmmaker Aktan Arym Kubat. He explained that the exhibition not only highlights his own work and Bolzhurov's contributions but also chronicles the evolution of Kyrgyz cinema since the country gained independence 30 years ago.

"This is the history of independent Kyrgyzstan's cinema, where all its generations are represented," Kubat stated. "We selected the most interesting photographs from the films, not only from an artistic perspective but also as an opportunity to recall films created 30 years ago."

The exhibition includes behind-the-scenes images from the filming of Kubat's extensive body of work, which comprises nearly two dozen productions. His filmography includes nine feature films and several short films, many of which have garnered awards at international film festivals. Kubat mentioned that the upcoming year marks a significant anniversary for him, and he is focused on reflecting on his cinematic journey and planning future projects.
