Hit-and-run driver kills two in Enugu

Tragedy struck in Enugu, Nigeria, on Wednesday morning when a speeding driver, involved in a hit-and-run incident, killed two men. The fatal crash occurred around 10 a.m. at Airport Corner, Emene, within the Enugu East Local Government Area.

According to reports, the driver was traveling from Emene towards Enugu city center at a high speed when they allegedly lost control of the vehicle. The first victim had stopped his car after it developed a fault and was in the process of repairing it when the speeding vehicle rammed into him. The impact was so severe that it killed him instantly and severed one of his legs.

A hit-and-run driver killed two people, all male, and ran away. The police have a report of the incident, and investigation is ongoing to track down the driver.

Eyewitnesses state that the driver did not stop to offer assistance but continued driving at high speed. Shortly after, the vehicle struck a second man, who also died at the scene, before the driver fled the area. The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway to track down the driver responsible.

This incident follows a recent directive from the police to strictly enforce traffic laws across the state. The command had noted a rampant disregard for traffic regulations by motorists, which it attributed to increased traffic congestion, road crashes, loss of lives, and property damage. The Commissioner of Police had ordered the immediate enforcement of these laws in compliance with a nationwide directive from the Inspector-General of Police.

After he finished fixing the car, he was about to return the tools to the workshop when a very reckless driver knocked him down at excessive speed as he entered the corner. He was killed instantly and one of his legs was cut off. He also knocked another person down, killing two of them instantly, and zoomed off.
