Police arrest four suspected armed robbers, cultists in Lagos

Lagos State Police have apprehended four individuals suspected of involvement in a criminal gang responsible for recent violence in the Ajah area. The arrests are linked to a series of killings, armed robberies, and cult-related activities plaguing the Ajah, Sangotedo, and Ibeju-Lekki corridors.

During the operation, authorities seized three locally made pistols, one live ammunition round, two battle axes, and a Point-of-Sale (POS) machine from the suspects. Preliminary investigations indicate the group's direct involvement in armed robbery and murder, with suspects reportedly making confessional statements about their participation in these crimes, as well as cultism.

The suspects were in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang and recover other exhibits allegedly in their possession.

The suspects, identified as Kareem Abiodun, 28; Tansiru Emmanuel, 29; Lateef Usman, 28; and Alashe Azeez, 32, are currently in police custody. Investigators are actively pursuing leads to apprehend other members of the gang and recover additional exhibits believed to be in their possession. The command confirmed that the suspects will face charges in court once the investigation concludes.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their diligence and urged them to maintain the momentum in dismantling the criminal network. He reiterated the command's commitment to employing intelligence-led operations to bring criminals to justice and warned that cultists, armed robbers, and other violent offenders would be relentlessly pursued.
