Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Supports Boy Burned in Dong Hung Thuan Fire

The Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee has given 50 million dong to support T.P.U., a boy being treated after a fire killed both of his parents in Dong Hung Thuan Ward.

On Sept. 7, Pham Minh Tuan, deputy chairman of the city Fatherland Front Committee, visited T.P.U. at Cho Ray Hospital’s Burns and Plastic Surgery Department. The boy, born in 2010, suffered facial abrasions and severe burns to both arms and legs. Doctors said his condition had temporarily stabilized and that he was communicating well.

Medical staff will continue treating his most serious injuries with skin grafts. Tuan encouraged the boy to stay mentally strong, cooperate with doctors and follow the treatment plan. He also provided the initial financial assistance to the victims’ family.

The fire began at about 1:55 a.m. on Sept. 5 at 10/29B TTN12 Street in Quarter 8. The house served as both a home and a grocery and produce shop. Local authorities, police, military personnel, neighborhood forces and a regional fire and rescue team brought the blaze under control at 2:05 a.m. and extinguished it at 2:10 a.m.

T.V.T., born in 1986, died at the scene. His wife, D.T.N., also born in 1986, and their son were taken to Cho Ray Hospital. D.T.N. died later that day from serious injuries. The ward Fatherland Front Committee had earlier provided 22 million dong in assistance to the injured victims. Tuan asked the ward committee and local organizations to continue monitoring the family and provide further support when needed.
