Ho Chi Minh City launches Binh Duong General Hospital's second facility in Bac Tan Uyen

Ho Chi Minh City's Department of Health officially inaugurated the second facility of Binh Duong General Hospital in Bac Tan Uyen commune on July 18, 2026. This expansion integrates the former Bac Tan Uyen Regional Medical Center, incorporating its facilities and operational functions into the new hospital structure. The establishment of Binh Duong General Hospital's second facility is part of a broader initiative by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to reorganize and strengthen the public healthcare system.

In the initial phase of operation, the second facility will be organized with a planned capacity of 60 beds, and will also launch the Outpatient Department 2 with specialized clinics and reinforce doctors and nurses from Binh Duong General Hospital to the second facility to improve the quality of service for patients.

Following the merger, the entirety of the Bac Tan Uyen Regional Medical Center's infrastructure and responsibilities have been transferred to the new hospital. The former medical center, built in 2014 with a capacity of 150 beds, will now operate as Binh Duong General Hospital's second site. Initially, the facility will offer 60 inpatient beds, alongside a newly established outpatient department featuring specialized clinics. To ensure high-quality patient care from the outset, medical staff from the main Binh Duong General Hospital will be deployed to the new location.

The Emergency Department operates continuously 24/24 hours, with sufficient capacity to receive and handle common emergency cases, ensuring consultation and inter-facility transfer procedures for cases beyond professional capabilities.

Dr. Le Ngoc Long, Director of Binh Duong General Hospital, stated that the second facility is planned to operate with 60 beds. The emergency department will be open 24/7, equipped to handle common emergencies and facilitate consultations and transfers for critical cases beyond its immediate capabilities. The hospital intends to maintain existing medical services while gradually expanding specialized departments and technical services to meet local demands. Future plans include treating internal medicine, general surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, and rehabilitation cases, alongside occupational health services. The hospital also aims to develop advanced techniques and implement telemedicine between its two facilities to improve treatment outcomes.

When operational, Binh Duong General Hospital's second facility will maintain all existing examination and treatment activities, and gradually expand specialized departments and technical services suitable for the local practical needs.
