Ho Chi Minh City Merges Centers to Boost Startup and Innovation Hub

Ho Chi Minh City is taking a significant step to bolster its innovation and startup ecosystem with the reorganization of its Center for Startup and Innovation. The Municipal People's Committee has issued a decision to merge two key entities—the Center for Information, Statistics, and Application of Scientific and Technological Progress, and the Center for Supporting Youth Startups—into the existing Center for Startup and Innovation.

The newly consolidated entity, operating internationally as the Startup And Innovation Hub of Ho Chi Minh City (SIHUB), is strategically positioned to become a central hub for entrepreneurial activity. Its mandate includes connecting various resources within both domestic and international innovation and startup ecosystems. SIHUB will play a crucial role in fostering innovation within the public sector and providing vital support to businesses, with a special focus on nurturing young entrepreneurs.

Beyond direct support, SIHUB will also handle important functions related to scientific and technological information, statistics, technology transfer, and communication, all aimed at serving the city's state management objectives. The center will also manage funds to support youth in their academic, production, and business endeavors, alongside organizing training programs in economic management and facilitating economic development resources for young people.

Looking ahead, SIHUB has ambitious goals. In the 2026-2030 phase, it aims to elevate Ho Chi Minh City's innovation and startup ecosystem to a regional level, enhancing business competitiveness and developing key products. By 2031-2035, the target is to achieve international standards, becoming a leading innovation hub with a competitive edge in the region and attracting significant venture capital investment. The physical center, located at 123 Truong Dinh Street, boasts a nearly 17,000 square meter campus and has already hosted numerous events, workshops, and meetings since its operation began in August 2025.
