Residents of Ho Chi Minh City facing delays in obtaining building permits for their homes can anticipate some relief as the Department of Construction takes steps to address the ongoing administrative hurdles.

The department has acknowledged that numerous individuals and organizations have reported difficulties with ward and commune People's Committees, which have ceased processing applications for individual housing construction permits. The primary reason cited is the absence of approved detailed planning schemes and architectural management regulations, creating a standstill for homeowners.

To rectify this situation, the Department of Construction is urging all ward and commune People's Committees to review their respective areas, identify specific planning and regulatory challenges, and submit proposed solutions. This collaborative effort aims to streamline the process and ensure that building permits can be issued in accordance with existing regulations, with a target to resolve these issues by the end of 2027.
