Ho Chi Minh City raises over 55 billion VND for border and island support fund

Ho Chi Minh City has raised over 55.1 billion Vietnamese dong (approximately $2.1 million USD) for its "For the Homeland's Seas and Islands - For the Frontline Homeland" Fund. The money will provide resources and encouragement to soldiers, officials, and citizens stationed in border and island regions.

The funds were collected during an art program titled "Towards the Homeland's Borders and Islands," organized by the Ho Chi Minh City chapter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the city's Radio and Television Station. The event, held on August 15, 2026, aimed to foster a sense of national unity and support for those on the country's frontiers.

Each contribution, whether small or large, each project or gift, whether big or small, conveys the affection of our compatriots, representing trust and solid companionship with the officers, soldiers, and people on the country's borders and islands.

Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front, emphasized the importance of collective effort in protecting national sovereignty. She stated that every contribution, regardless of size, signifies the people's love and unwavering support for those serving on the borders and islands. The fund has consistently received backing from various organizations, businesses, religious institutions, and individuals both domestically and internationally.

This initiative seeks not only to mobilize financial resources but also to enhance public understanding of the strategic significance of the borders and islands in national defense and development. The program also aims to inspire Vietnamese communities abroad to participate in similar supportive activities.
