Ho Chi Minh City's Children's Hospital 2 to undergo VND 360 billion renovation

Children's Hospital 2 in Ho Chi Minh City is set to receive a significant upgrade with a VND 360 billion (approximately $14 million USD) investment aimed at renovating and restoring its historical buildings. The project, approved by the municipal People's Committee, seeks to preserve the hospital's architectural heritage while modernizing its facilities to better serve patients, facilitate training, and support research.

The Investment Management Board for Civil and Industrial Construction Projects will oversee the initiative, which encompasses eight main buildings along with auxiliary structures and technical infrastructure. The scope of work includes installing essential systems such as elevators, advanced ventilation and air conditioning, medical gas lines, pneumatic tube transport, nurse call systems, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), isolation transformer cabinets, IT infrastructure, a building management system (BMS), access control, automated queuing, and office furnishings.

Funded entirely by the city's budget, the project is classified as a Group B project and is slated to commence in 2026, with completion expected by 2029. The hospital is located at 14 Ly Tu Trong Street in District 1.

Several city departments are involved in ensuring the project's success. The Department of Finance is responsible for verifying the accuracy and legal basis of the investment proposal and coordinating budget allocation. The Department of Health will monitor the project's progress and ensure it meets its objectives. The Department of Culture and Sports will provide guidance on heritage preservation, while the Department of Construction will oversee construction quality and cost management. The hospital's management will be responsible for implementing the project according to the approved plan and relevant laws.
