Ho Chi Minh City sets October 31, 2026 deadline for 100% workforce health checks

Ho Chi Minh City has mandated that 100% of its public sector employees and laborers complete their periodic health examinations by October 31, 2026. This directive, issued by the municipal People's Committee, aligns with Prime Minister's Directive 17 concerning regular health check-ups for citizens. The initiative also serves to facilitate the creation of electronic health records and enhance national health management systems. To achieve this, all relevant departments and agencies must submit lists of their employees to the Department of Health by August 15, 2026, for data synchronization onto the Community Health Management platform. The health screenings must adhere to the regulations outlined in the Law on Occupational Safety and Health, ensuring comprehensive checks as per the Ministry of Health's guidelines for individuals aged 18 and above. Departments are prohibited from arbitrarily reducing or substituting examination components. Following the screenings, results must be uploaded to the system and reported to the Department of Health within three days for monitoring. The Department of Health will provide technical guidance and oversee data standardization and electronic health record management, while the Department of Home Affairs will assess implementation results. The management boards of industrial parks and export processing zones, along with local authorities, will urge businesses to comply with the deadline. Labor unions are also instructed to coordinate with employers to ensure timely and thorough health checks.
