Ho Chi Minh City Warns of Suspected Fake Getino-B Tablets 300mg

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has issued a warning over Getino-B Tablets 300mg, batch 664F44, after a sample sold at a local pharmacy was suspected to be counterfeit.

The sample came from four boxes purchased at Nhi Trung Pharmacy at 362 Hai Ba Trung Street in Tan Dinh Ward. After comparing it with the manufacturer’s retained sample, Getz Pharma (Pvt) Ltd said the product sold at the pharmacy was not made by the company and was suspected to be fake.

An investigation report identified differences in the content, typeface, spacing between lines and text alignment compared with the approved production sample. It also said some information on the Vietnamese-language label was rendered in English incorrectly.

The department asked pharmaceutical businesses and medical facilities not to buy, sell or use products that differ from the genuine medicine. They must review their inventories, separate suspected products and notify authorities when they find them. Officials also instructed businesses not to handle counterfeit, untraceable, unlicensed or substandard medicines, and to trade only within their licenses and with products supported by lawful invoices and documents.

The department asked ward, commune and special-zone authorities to notify pharmacies, medical facilities and residents about the suspected batch. Its Inspection and Legal Affairs Division will work with relevant agencies to inspect Nhi Trung Pharmacy, verify the source and transaction records of the medicine and take action if violations are confirmed. The article also notes that the Drug Administration of Vietnam had issued a nationwide recall on August 28 for a separate batch of Colchicina Seid tablets over a level-two violation.
