When will Ho Chi Minh City’s 1,500-bed hospital open?

Ho Chi Minh City’s planned 1,500-bed hospital is expected to begin receiving patients in its outpatient and emergency departments in February 2027, with full operations scheduled for September.

The Binh Duong General Hospital project covers about 16 hectares in Chanh Hiep Ward, in the former Binh Duong area. The project management board and contractors are working to meet the committed schedule. Work under package one had reached about 92.3 percent, with cameras and mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems among the remaining installations. Additional work in group five was expected to finish in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Construction under package two was largely complete, although some terminal equipment still needed installation and integration with the wider system. The outpatient area and part of the inpatient area were scheduled for completion between August and December 2026. Fire safety systems in the outpatient and emergency areas were due for acceptance in December, followed by acceptance of those areas in January 2027.

The outpatient and emergency departments are planned to open in February 2027. Overall systems and finishing work are expected to be accepted in July, with the project completed for use in August and the hospital formally operating in September.

The project management board said Binh Duong General Hospital had assigned staff to help receive and operate the facility. Ho Chi Minh City’s health department has identified the hospital as a key institution in the region’s medical network, with a role in healthcare delivery and professional training. The hospital currently has 1,566 employees, including 383 doctors, 99 pharmacists, 659 nurses, 110 midwives and 71 medical technicians.
