Holiday Traffic Snarls Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway

The start of the September 2nd holiday on August 29th triggered severe traffic congestion on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giayi Expressway. The holiday rush caused kilometers-long traffic jams, particularly in the section near the Long Thanh airport project and extending to the expressway's rest stop.

Reports from the scene described the rest stop area as overwhelmingly crowded, with parking spaces nearly full. This intense congestion contrasted sharply with the traffic flow in the opposite direction, from Dau Giay towards Long Thanh and Ho Chi Minh City, which remained light.

The traffic situation also affected the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway, with minor congestion observed near the toll station heading from Dong Nai to Phan Thiet. Traffic police were present to manage the situation and provide assistance to vehicles.

Beyond the immediate toll station area, the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway remained largely clear, including the interchange with National Highway 56. The stark difference in traffic volume between the two directions of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giayi Expressway and the contrast between its congested rest stop and the clearer Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway highlighted the significant impact of holiday travel on Vietnam's infrastructure.
