Home Invasion in Itapúa Poty: Police Recover Stolen Truck

In the early hours of Wednesday, a brazen home invasion occurred in the Itapúa Poty district of Paraguay, leaving a local farmer robbed of cash, cellphones, and his vehicle. Three armed assailants, masked and clad in dark clothing, reportedly entered the residence around 2:00 AM, surprising the victim, identified as Wilfrido Prieto Vallejo, 55, as he was heading to the bathroom.

According to the victim's account, the perpetrators arrived on foot and brandished firearms. They made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, several mobile phones, and a 2016 gray Ford Ranger pickup truck, license plate NBD 746. The swiftness of the crime left the residents shaken.

Following the report, agents from the local 83rd Police Station initiated a search of the surrounding area. Their efforts paid off when the stolen Ford Ranger was discovered abandoned just a few kilometers from the scene, concealed within a corn plantation. Technicians from the Criminalistics and Investigations departments were called to process the vehicle, and the case has been referred to the Public Ministry.

This incident marks the third such robbery in the region in recent weeks, following similar home invasions and vehicle thefts in Hohenau on August 5, San Rafael del Paraná on August 10, and Carlos Antonio López on August 12. The pattern suggests a coordinated effort by criminal groups targeting residents in these rural districts.
