Homenchenko Penalty Secures Last-Minute Win for Querétaro Over Tigres

Querétaro secured a thrilling 3-2 victory against Tigres thanks to a last-gasp penalty converted by Homenchenko. The match, played in front of a decent crowd at the Corregidora stadium, delivered an engaging contest between the two teams.

Querétaro took an early lead in the 10th minute when Ali Ávila capitalized on a rebound from Nahuel Guzmán's save, easily tapping the ball into the net for his third goal of the Apertura 2026 season. Just seven minutes later, Mateo Coronel doubled the advantage. He intercepted a Tigres corner, broke away towards the opponent's area, and fired a right-footed shot past Guzmán.

Tigres, initially struggling, began to assert dominance as the first half progressed. Their persistence paid off in the 40th minute when Brunetta delivered a precise cross to Rodrigo Aguirre, who headed the ball to reduce the deficit. The referee consulted VAR once more and awarded another penalty, which Homenchenko coolly slotted home to seal the dramatic win for Querétaro.
