Hometown Talk: Entertainer Urges Youth Not to Limit Future Dreams

Taiwanese entertainer Huang Yi-hsiang, originally from Lucao in Chiayi County, returned to his alma mater, Lucao Junior High School, to share his "Dream Chasing Diary." The event, attended by over a hundred people, detailed his path from Lucao to Taipei and his experiences in the entertainment industry.

Huang spoke about the setbacks and choices he faced, urging local youth to be brave and explore their potential without being constrained by their small-town roots. He emphasized that leaving a small place does not mean fewer opportunities, and that trying new things is key to discovering one's path.

The event was organized by Zuòrén Rén Yǒuxiàn Gōngsī, with support from the National Development Council's Youth Empowerment Program for Local Creation. The organization aims to create more exchange opportunities between young people and their local communities. They believe that local creation doesn't require everyone to stay; it's about ensuring young people know they have choices and that those who leave can eventually bring their experiences back.

Guān Qíyǒng, the host of the Lucao Youth Empowerment Station project, highlighted that many Lucao youths are developing in various fields but have had limited chances to share their life experiences locally. Inviting Huang back was intended to showcase different career choices through his real-life journey, encouraging local youth and reconnecting those who have moved away.

The organizers noted the event's full attendance, indicating a need for such platforms. They plan to continue connecting Lucao youths from different sectors to foster stronger links between them and their hometown through shared experiences.

The important thing is to let young people know they have choices, and that those who go out still have the opportunity to bring their experiences back and reconnect with their hometowns.
