Homicide in Sayago: Man killed after multiple gunshots in a workshop

A man was killed Tuesday after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds in the Sayago neighborhood of Montevideo. According to initial reports from Subrayado (Canal 10) and confirmed by El País with sources from the Montevideo Police Headquarters, assailants entered a vehicle repair workshop and fired upon the victim.

The workshop is located on Bell Street, between Orticochea and Julián Astengo. Police were present at the scene investigating the crime.

This latest killing brings the total number of homicides in Montevideo to five between Monday and Tuesday. The grim tally includes two brothers murdered early Monday morning and a woman found dead in her home in the La Aguada neighborhood with signs of violence on Monday. Earlier on Tuesday, another homicide occurred at the intersection of Jacobo Varela and Rafael Eguren in the Pérez Castellanos neighborhood. There, a 38-year-old man with eleven prior criminal records died from gunshot wounds, as reported by Telemundo (Canal 12).

In a separate case, police in Maldonado detained two men on Tuesday as part of the investigation into the homicide of a 14-year-old adolescent on Sunday, June 21. The detained individuals, aged 29 and 33, both have criminal records. The Maldonado Police Headquarters stated that 14 raids were conducted across various neighborhoods in Maldonado as part of this investigation, involving multiple police units and authorized by the Prosecutor's Office.
