Honda Prelude sports car priced at NT$1.749 million in Taiwan

Honda has officially announced the pricing for its two-door sports car, the Prelude, in Taiwan. The Prelude will be available for NT$1.749 million, with order taking for the 2027 model year commencing in August. Prospective buyers can experience the vehicle through test drives at Honda dealerships nationwide starting June 27.

The Prelude, which debuted in Taiwan at the Taipei Auto Show late last year, has already seen its initial allocation for the 2026 model year sell out, indicating strong market interest in the Japanese sports coupe. The car's exterior design emphasizes a "GLIDING CROSS STANCE," characterized by a low center of gravity, wide body, and 235/40 R19 tires, creating a dynamic and sleek silhouette reminiscent of a glider.

Inside, the "GLIDING COCKPIT" concept extends the aerodynamic theme. The interior features a low-profile, horizontal dashboard, optimized A-pillar and mirror placement for enhanced driver visibility, and supportive high-back sports seats with "PRELUDE" embroidery. The cabin is equipped with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster with virtual reality display, a 9-inch touchscreen multimedia system, and a BOSE sound system.

Powering the Prelude is a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle direct-injection engine paired with a Power Control Unit (PCU) and a dual-motor E-CVT system. This hybrid powertrain produces a combined output of 184 PS and 32.1 kg·m of torque. The system's optimized energy management provides instant acceleration akin to an electric vehicle. The Prelude also includes Honda's S+ Shift simulated shifting function, which enhances the driving experience by mimicking gear changes through engine sound and motor dynamics, complete with an "auto blip downshift" feature during deceleration.
