Honda Revives Classic Element SUV with Hybrid Power for 2029 Launch

Honda is preparing for the return of its iconic Element SUV, a model known for its distinctive boxy design that was sold between 2002 and 2011. New patent filings from July 2024 hinted at the revival, and recent reports indicate that Honda will begin production of the next-generation Element in the second quarter of 2029 at its Ohio plant in the United States.

Addressing a key criticism of the original model, the new Element will adopt a hybrid powertrain. This move aims to significantly improve fuel efficiency and enhance its market competitiveness, tackling the previous iteration's reputation for being relatively fuel-thirsty.

The reborn Element is expected to occupy a niche between the HR-V and CR-V models. It will target the highly competitive compact outdoor crossover SUV market.
